Historical guide to True Image 2014 Premium, its edition-specific recovery tools and how to identify the correct software for an old backup.

**Historical software reference.** This article describes the named historical release or service.

## Identify the Premium edition

True Image 2014 Premium was an edition of the 2014 backup product. It shared the underlying file-backup and disk-imaging workflow, but added tools aimed at more demanding recovery and migration situations.

## What distinguished Premium

The 2014 manual identifies Universal Restore, support for dynamic disks and a WinPE-based recovery-media option among the Premium additions. Universal Restore addressed recovery onto different hardware. Those edition distinctions should not be inferred for a standard 2014 license or a later product with a different name.

## Working with a legacy backup

Keep the backup archive, encryption password and recovery media together. Identify the application and edition used to create the image before selecting a restore tool. Preserve a second copy before testing archive compatibility.

A full-system restoration can overwrite the destination disk. If only a document is needed, start with a file-level recovery option that preserves the existing system.
