Acronis Disk Director 11 Home - Features and Components Archive
Historical software reference. This article describes the named historical release or service.
Disk management rather than a backup archive
Acronis Disk Director 11 Home combined partition-management and disk-maintenance tools. Its purpose was to change or inspect disk layouts. It should be distinguished from True Image, which creates backup archives for later restoration.
Partition-management features
The historical manual describes creating, resizing, moving, copying and merging volumes, along with disk cloning and conversions between supported disk layouts. The availability of an operation depends on the selected disk and volume; a list of features is not a guarantee that every operation applies to every layout.
Components and recovery tools
Disk Director 11 Home documentation also covers Recovery Expert for recovering lost volumes, Disk Editor for examining and editing disk data, bootable media and OS Selector for boot management. These tools address different problems. Finding a lost partition is not the same operation as restoring a backup image.
Before changing partitions
Save important data to a separate physical device and verify the copy. Record the existing layout and review all pending operations before applying them. If the disk is failing, preserve recoverable data before experimenting with changes to its partitions.
Related editions and practical guidance
Disk Director 12 has a separate catalog page; it is a different release. Read the disk-management guide to choose a tool by the operation you need, or the historical Disk Director 11 edition comparison for Home and Advanced Workstation context.
