Review application updates with IObit Software Updater
IObit Software Updater checks supported Windows applications for available updates and presents installed software in one place. It helps you select updates without handling each supported program separately.
Start with the applications you use regularly and inspect the proposed changes. The supported catalog does not cover every installed program, so retain a way to check applications managed outside the tool.
Compare installed and available versions
The My Software view separates outdated and up-to-date programs. You can select individual updates or use batch updating within the limits of your edition.
Check the application involved before proceeding, especially for work tools with plug-ins or a required version. An update recommendation is not a guarantee of compatibility with every project or extension.
Choose manual or automatic updating
Pro adds automatic updates and scheduling through an Auto Update List. The standard edition has limits on batch updating.
Review the list before leaving updates unattended. Choose a time when you can save work and allow applications to close or restart if needed, then test the programs that matter to your routine.
Manage updates you want to defer
Ignore controls let you skip a particular update or future updates for an application. You can review ignored programs later in settings.
Document why a version is being held back and revisit that decision. Deferring an update for compatibility is different from assuming that a program will never need another security or maintenance release.
Review recovery preparation
The application provides automatic system restore-point creation before installations. Check that the recovery option is available and completed rather than assuming a planned update can always be reversed.
A restore point does not replace independent copies of documents and project files. Save work and preserve important data before a substantial application upgrade.
Keep recommendations separate from installed software
A recommendation section provides a way to install additional applications from the catalog. These suggestions serve a different purpose from updating programs you already use.
Review whether you need a recommended application and its own license before installing it. A catalog entry does not establish entitlement to every paid edition of that software.
Distinguish application updates from driver maintenance
For hardware-driver checks, see IObit Driver Booster Pro. For unwanted-application removal, see IObit Uninstaller Pro.
Software Updater focuses on supported applications. Updating them does not replace Windows Update, antivirus protection, or a backup, and cannot guarantee that every vulnerability or application problem is resolved.
