Product comparison
iolo DriveScrubber vs O&O SafeErase 21
Both products address storage erasure, but the documented selection and startup workflows differ. DriveScrubber concentrates on selected drives and bootable system-drive wiping; O&O SafeErase 21 also covers narrower file and local-trace tasks.

DriveScrubber scope and versions
iolo removed Free Space Wipe because of data-safety concerns. Older descriptions of wiping only unused space while retaining Windows and active files should not be treated as an available current DriveScrubber workflow. Whole-drive wiping cannot substitute for that task when the existing contents must remain.
DriveScrubber documents secondary-drive wiping and bootable-media wiping for a system drive. Creating a bootable USB formats the selected USB, so distinguish that preparation target from the drive you intend to erase afterward. The catalog entry does not specify a release number; check the installed build and supported device guidance.
Whole-drive retirement or several kinds of deletion task?
Consider DriveScrubber when the goal is to remove all contents from a selected drive, including a Windows system drive through its bootable workflow. Keep the boot-media creation target distinct from the drive you will erase later.
Consider O&O SafeErase 21 when your work also needs selected-file deletion, local browser-data tasks, scheduling or operation reports. Check the edition and build before relying on isolated-environment or storage-specific controls.
Fortress Mode and a DriveScrubber bootable USB provide different working environments. Confirm that the chosen environment recognizes the intended storage and offers the required operation rather than treating the two mechanisms as interchangeable.

Compare the target-selection and review steps
- Use disposable test files or a spare device to review the workflow.
- Identify whether the task covers a file, unused space, a partition or an entire drive.
- Check the selected storage and supported method in the intended working environment.
- Review completion information and keep required records outside the erased storage.
This comparison describes documented operations. We have not benchmarked wiping speed or independently verified sanitization coverage. Treat erasure as permanent; a higher overwrite count does not by itself establish complete coverage on every storage device, and separate copies remain outside the selected local operation.
