Prepare system rescue with O&O BlueCon 24
O&O BlueCon 24 provides a Windows PE-based rescue environment that starts independently of the installed Windows system. Its tools support diagnosis, file access, and targeted recovery actions when normal startup is unavailable.
Prepare the boot workflow before an incident. Check that the environment starts on the intended computer and can access the storage and recovery destinations you would need.
Review the changes in version 24
Version 24 introduces an internet-updatable rescue environment and a revised edition model. The available tools and permitted use depend on the selected edition.
Update and test your prepared environment periodically rather than assuming old media remains ready for every new device. Keep essential recovery information available outside the affected computer.
Preserve accessible data before repairs
The rescue environment provides file access when the installed Windows system cannot be used normally. Copy important readable files to independent storage before substantial repair work where possible.
Confirm the source and destination and inspect copied files. Access to a volume does not mean every file is intact or that a failing device can tolerate repeated attempts.
Investigate updates, drivers, and system settings
BlueCon tools include update removal, device and service management, registry editing, and event-log inspection. Use them to investigate a specific startup or configuration problem.
Record symptoms and recent changes before applying a repair. Alter one relevant setting at a time and retain useful logs rather than combining unrelated fixes without checking their effects.
Check recovery and imaging tools by edition
The BlueCon range includes data-recovery workflows and edition-dependent DiskImage integration. Professional deployment and network capabilities also vary between editions.
For standalone workflows, see O&O DiskRecovery 14 and O&O DiskImage 23. Their current release pages do not establish the component versions or rights in your BlueCon offer.
Separate Personal and professional use
Personal Edition focuses on a private PC, while professional editions address broader internal or technician use. Do not assume Personal includes Active Directory, deployment, or the full professional toolset.
Review the selected license for the systems and service work you intend to cover. The edition name matters as much as the product version when planning a rescue workflow.
Verify the outcome before returning to service
After a targeted action, check startup, important applications, and the files affected by the incident. Keep recovery copies until the result has been assessed.
A rescue environment does not guarantee repair of every system, recovery of overwritten files, or resolution of physical hardware faults. For independent-copy planning, see our file-backup guide.
