Create file-backup profiles with Auslogics BitReplica
Auslogics BitReplica backs up selected files and folders on a Windows PC. Separate profiles let you organize sources, destinations, backup methods, and schedules around different collections.
Start with the files you would need after a loss: documents, photos, and active projects. Test a small profile before relying on an automated routine for your whole collection.
Keep different collections on different schedules
Profiles can use manual, hourly, daily, or weekly runs. A frequently edited work folder can have a different routine from an archive that rarely changes.
Choose a schedule when the computer and destination will be available. Check completion after the first run and after changing a profile; a scheduled time alone does not confirm that usable copies were created.
Choose full, incremental, or differential backup
Full backup copies all selected files. Incremental backup handles changes since the previous backup, while differential backup handles changes since the last full backup.
Choose the method around how you expect to restore your data. Keep the backup set together and test retrieval before removing older copies or reorganizing destination folders.
Select an independent destination
Published destinations include external storage, a networked computer, and cloud-storage workflows. Confirm the destination offered by the profile before starting.
A second folder on the same physical drive does not protect against that drive failing. For removable or network storage, verify access and capacity and keep recovery information available from another trusted device.
Check the cloud workflow before relying on it
Cloud backup has its own configuration behavior. The documented workflow uses the cloud client and requires its initial synchronization to finish before the backup is created.
Check both the backup task and the cloud client afterward. A local task finishing does not by itself establish that remote synchronization is complete or that a chosen provider remains compatible.
Test restoration before an emergency
Select a saved backup under its profile and use Restore, or inspect the backup folder to retrieve individual files as appropriate.
Test with a recent document and a larger file, using a separate location for the check where possible. Open recovered files in their usual applications before treating the backup as verified.
Distinguish a file backup from complete system recovery
BitReplica focuses on selected file collections. Do not assume that a profile captures a bootable Windows environment or every setting needed to rebuild a computer.
For planning a wider recovery routine, see our file-backup guide. If data has already been deleted without a usable copy, Auslogics File Recovery describes a different workflow whose success depends on surviving data.
